Keynote Speakers:  

Wesley Chu  
* Professor and past Chairman of the Computer Science Department at UCLA, Fellow of IEEE, is a world renown expert in database management, particularly distributed, intelligent, and medical applications.  Chu has authored over 100 published research papers. 

Richard Campanella  
* Remote Sensing/GIS Specialist with Institute of Technology Development, an organization that supports the NASA Commercial Remote Sensing Program and the Mississippi Space Commerce Initiative (a joint venture between NASA , State of Mississippi, and remote sensing industries, to foster R&D, workforce education, and small business development). 

Naphtali Rishe  
* Professor of Computer Science, expert in database management and design, author of two books and a hundred published research papers on database design.  He has been awarded for his research $4M by NASA, $3M by the National Science Foundation, and millions by other agencies.  Rishe is the founder and Director of the High Performance Database Research Center at FIU. 

Kent Wreder  
* Corporate Director of Object Technology at within the Baptist Health Systems, is the architect of the Baptist initiative in constructing a Computerized Patient Record System based on the CORBA technology.

The High Performance Database  
Research Center (HPDRC)  

conducts research on database management systems and various applications, leading to the development of new types of database systems and the refinement of existing database systems. HPDRC employs over 100 researchers and developers working on industrial and public contracts. 
 
 


The NASA Regional Applications Center (RAC)  

is a division of the High Performance Database Research Center.  The RAC was chartered by NASA for the purpose of data ingestion from satellites, enhancement of data, and distribution of data to users via the Internet and otherwise.
